The Best Free Student Planner Printables

I remember that being a student was extremely hard.
Although I was in the top class for most of my high school years, it wasn’t without HARD work. I had many friends who were super intelligent and smarter than me. So, as you can imagine, I had to work REALLY hard to continue to stay in the top class.
I’m sure I can recall good times like going on our wonderful school trips and laughing a lot with my friends in high school. But unfortunately, what I remembered most was that I felt extremely stressed during those years.
I don’t know much about the education system in the US. But in Malaysia, students were given tons of homework, on top of our after-school activities, sports, clubs or society meetings, not to mention extra Math/English/Malay tuition classes. Though these were not compulsory, most people I know including myself would at least have one or two extra classes outside of school.
And believe it or not – we were also given tons of homework during our holidays.
“Man… how they like to torture us.” That’s what I always thought to myself.
In Malaysia, we have subjects imposed on us all the time. We had 7-10 subjects to study for the year and most were compulsory for us to take even though it doesn’t make any sense to us or help us in any way for the future. 🙁
The teachers never really gave us a break either. They sometimes did but probably only a handful of times. Plus, we were considered lazy and were punished if we did not complete our homework after the holidays.
Phew , glad those days were over.
So, when I finally graduated high school – you can just imagine how I felt!
I was BURSTING with joy! I danced, jiggled, did the hokey-pokey or whatever you call it..
I was SO happy that I was almost bursting at the seams because I felt like I’m finally out of a prison cell!
Adios! Sayonara! NEVER going back there again..
Sorry for the very stressful opening of this post – but it’s the truth!
So when I started my design education in a cool university in Malaysia and then went to NZ to further my education in graphic design – I was the happiest I had ever been because I could finally be in my zone of genius, doing what I LOVE and am naturally good at.
Later on, my kids started going to primary school and I was pleasantly surprised to find the education here is nothing like back home. To be honest, it was a breath of fresh air! I don’t know much about the US, but I believe that it may be similar because it still falls under the Western education system.
I really LOVE the education here because it feels much more humane and civilized. I don’t want to compare schools or generalize all schools in NZ or in the Western world. However, I can only share from my perspective and experiences from my kids’ school.
The first thing I noticed is they care a lot about the mental and emotional health of the kids here. Secondly, they are very strategic in their teaching and focus on what will be most beneficial to the kids of their age groups. Thirdly, they help the kids to focus on subjects that interest them and encourage them to pursue them further.
Wow, I was VERY impressed and wished I had that kind of education. If I did, I think I would have loved going to school more often, instead of dreading it most of the time.
No matter WHERE you live or what kind of education your kids receive (homeschooling, online charter, or traditional), to help them in their schooling education, I have created 10 of the best free student planner printables for you to download !

Included in this Student Planner Printable Set:
Blank calendar pages.
- These monthly calendars can be customized for a nice overview of each month (be sure to print the entire year at once). They're super simple and can be customized for Sunday or Monday weekly starts.
Weekly Schedule Printables
- Have your student customize these schedule printables with their daily class and activity schedule. They're perfect for either traditional or block scheduling.
- As you can see in the image above, you can even add times to the left of the boxes, if desired.
Daily Schedule Printables
- These daily planner printables are the biggie ...the one you'll need a print of for every school day (easy to do with your home printer). It is broken down into hourly slots from 5am-10pm with additional areas for daily to-do lists, daily goals, and notes. They can be filled in with different subjects, activities, and appointments. There should be plenty of space for alllll of the info.
Assignment Trackers
- These are perfect for the larger-scale assignments, as well as to keep track of their schoolwork, overall.
Homework Trackers
- These are for weekly homework assignments. If you want to simplify things a bit, you can omit the assignment trackers and just use the homework ones, instead.
Upcoming Tests and Quizzes Trackers
- These are similar to the homework and assignment printables, but geared for testing. There is even space to include what needs to be studied.
Checklist Printables I absolutely love instilling an affinity to set goals. I think these list-specific printables will certainly help with that. The following are included: To-Do List Weekly Goals Monthly Goals Semester Goals

Using Your Planner Printables
- You can download the printables you choose to include in your planner below the following two images.
- Print these onto regular paper using your home printer.
- I have a tutorial on customizing printables like this on my Printable Tags and Labels post .
- I created a slightly offset printable with each sheet...the left margin is larger for hole punching. Use a standard three-hole punch with these to keep them in a binder.
- Grab a three-hole punch here on Amazon.
- My kids carry those larger, fabric binders (they come with a shoulder strap) to all of their classes. They also keep all of their homework and assignments in these binders. I designed this student planner printable set to be kept inside a binder like that, since they're the go-to for most students these days. However, a traditional three-ring binder would work, too.
- This is the exact binder both of my boys used last year. It's from Amazon. Again, we like the strap feature on it.
Customizing Your Student's Planner

- You can download my Free Printable Planner Stickers to use with this planner, too (they are more geared to adult schedules, but many of them work perfectly with the student planner.
- And grab some fun patterned washi tape here on Amazon.
- Or, if you prefer, the plain washi tape may be more to your liking (here on Amazon).
- And be sure to grab some adhesive tabs here on Amazon (my kids use these with their planners to mark their calendars/daily pages).

Student Planner

It’s 10pm and your kid announces that they have a math test the next day. They can’t find their review sheet and have spent no time studying for the test at all. UGH! You feel like pulling your hair out…again.

Free Printable Student Planner
It’s time to get your student organized this school year and it will be simple to do with the free printable Student Planner .
The Student Planner is chock full of pages to get your student completely organized. But the best part is that each student can personalize it fit their needs. Print out the entire planner and pick and choose which pages will work best for their schedule (an elementary student will need to use different pages than a college student).
Over 30 pages are included:
- overview calendar
- yearly glance
- goal setting
- class schedule (semester 1 & 2)
- assignment schedule
- exam schedule
- reading log
- grade tracker
- project planner
- monthly calendar for January through December
- weekly planner
- daily routines

OPTIONAL SUPPLIES:
- 3-ring binder with a clear pocket
- decorative binder
- heavy weight 32 lb. paper
- divider tabs
- erasable pens
Find a binder of choice to create the Student Planner. You can grab a simple 3-ring binder with a clear pocket or even a decorative binder . I suggest printing on heavy weight 32 lb. paper for durability. This will ensure that the pages will be durable and last through the school year. You can even add divider tabs to make sections for the calendar, subjects, exams/grades, and more. Don’t forget to use my favorite erasable pens (because we all know we make mistakes!)
Creating good habits starts with a routine from morning through night. At the start of the school year encourage your student to set up their planner and use it daily. Once they get in a habit of writing everything down, it will get easier and easier to use on a daily basis.
And now FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY , We are offering our dated daily student planner at en extreme discount.
It’s time to, get ready for 2023.
Get organized for 2023 with our brand new, easy to use Digital 2023 Planner! Our Planner will help you get organized and stay organized. Oh, and did we mention how pretty it is too? Use code “SAVE5” to save $5 now.

Nicole-I see this got delivered to you on Jan. 28th. If you try to opt in a second time, it won’t get delivered again. Let me know if you found the delivery email (also could be in your spam).

Getting Ready for Back to School-Student Planner Printables
I cannot believe that it’s almost time to start getting ready for back to school season. July is coming to a close and our summer vacation is almost half way over. For many others I know that the first day of school is coming up much faster than that, so to help you get ready for the new school year I thought I would share with you some student planner printables.

When I was in grade seven our school district started handing out planners to every student at the beginning of the year. This was a very new concept at the time, and I know many parents scoffed at the idea that students needed planners. Not my parents, my parents thought it was a great way to help students be more accountable for getting their school work done. When I started Junior High the following year I found myself relying more and more on my planner to keep all my homework straight.
It now seems hit-or-miss whether school districts handout planners or even include them on school supply lists, but I do believe that a good student planner is a tool that will help our children during their education journey. So, today I would like to share with you updated versions of my student planner printables.
Student Planner Printables
A few years ago, I shared the two student planners pictured below as a Reader Request feature. I still really like them, but for students who have a lot of homework, there is not much room to write. So I decided that a full-size version would be the best solution.

Full-Size Weekly Student Planner
I toyed with changing the layout, but I wasn’t sure what else was really needed in a planner. If you make them too complicated, they won’t get used. No-one, especially busy students, want the hassle of trying to keep track of too many things.
Keep it simple is the name of the game.

The school week is spread out over two pages, leaving plenty of room to jot down homework each day. Each weekday is divided into three columns so that students can keep track of which class the homework or test is for and when it’s due. At the end of the week is room for lists, so students can have a place to keep all that information together.

Just like with the original version, I used two different colour schemes. I have it on good authority that scallops and pink just won’t cut it for the boys.
Homework/Project Planner Printables
For many students, a simple weekly planner is all they need. For others, they might want to add in a few more components. The homework planner is a great one to have on hand for those larger homework projects. It allows students to keep track of important information for the project and gives room to record the criteria the teacher wants to be met. It also, and this is the important part, allows a student to break a large project down into smaller, easy to manage steps.

Sometimes the assignments a student is given can be a little overwhelming, but with a planner printable like this one that overwhelming project can be broken up into smaller steps making it feel much more attainable.

Just like with the student planners above, these homework planners were originally created at the request of one of my lovely readers. I didn’t change them at all, except for the colours and the fonts to make them match the weekly planners. And of course, I couldn’t resist making them into half-size versions as well.
One side for the important information, the other for breaking down the project into manageable steps.
I’m sure there is much more I could have included on these, but again I didn’t want to make them overly complicated.

Weekly Student Planner Templates
Students in Middle School and High School need some way to keep track of their assignments and activities. Some schools put together a spiral-bound "student agenda" that each student is required to purchase and use. These "agendas" (I prefer the term "student planner") typically include calendars, school rules, and a lot of weekly planner pages for listing assignments. If your school doesn't provide something like this, you can buy your own student planner or print your own planner pages using templates like the ones on this page.
Printing Two-Sided (Duplex Mode): These 2-page weekly planner pages are designed for printers that can handle printing on both sides of the page. Some instructions are provided on the cover page within each template. If your printer cannot print two-sided, your printer may allow a manual duplex mode (where you flip the pages yourself and reinsert them into the printer). Follow your printer's instructions for manual duplex printing. Experiment with a few pages at first to avoid wasting paper.
Student Planner - Weekday Columns / Subject Rows

⤓ Download XLSX For: Excel 2010 or later
This is one of the most popular weekly student planners. It lists the weekdays along the top and includes rows for up to 7 different subjects. You can list other activities on the bottom row and weekly action items and notes on the right side of the second page. You only need to edit the subjects on the first page. All the other pages will update based on the first page.
Student Planner - Subject Columns / Weekday Rows

This version lists the Subjects along the top with the weekdays as rows. The to-do and notes sections are included on the second page at the bottom. Like the other templates, the Excel file allows you to edit the subjects listed at the top.
Weekly Student Planner - Basic

This is a basic version that lists subjects along the top and rows for each weekday. It doesn't include an action items or notes section, but it does still include the columns that can be used to check off the daily assignments.

Free Homeschool Student Planner
If you are like me, and trying to bring a little more organization into your crazy, homeschool life then you might appreciate this post. Because, I am sharing a homeschool student planner for free.
A while ago, I got on a planner-page-making kick… and this week, I finally decided to put together the ones that would work best for this year.
Since they are fairly generic, I thought some of my homeschooling mama friends could possibly benefit from them as well. Let me know what you think!

Benefits of Homeschool Student Planners
- Gives clear objectives . Having a planner not only helps the teacher to clearly articulate what they expect but it allows the students to know exactly what they are supposed to be doing.
- Reduces Stress. Having a clear picture of what is on the student’s ‘to do’ list prevents them from becoming overwhelmed with their tasks. They can view them in bite-sized pieces
- Increases productivity. Clear communication and organization always leads to more things getting done, and less time wasted.
- Teaches responsibility. Giving a student their own planner allows them to manage their own time and tasks. This teaches responsibility and self-discipline.
- Tracks Progress . Keeping track of places they’ve been, or books they have read, gives a sense of progress and completion of a job well done. Which in turn, fosters motivation and confidence.
Tips for Helping your Child Use a Planner
To begin with, most kids don’t naturally have a sense of organization and planning, but it can be developed through some gentle encouragement and basic habit training .
My suggestion is to start off on the right foot by making it a fun experience. Give your child some stickers, or sparkly gel pens to decorate their planner and make it their own.
Then to begin developing the habit of using it, encourage them to refer back to it daily. Remembering that building a habit doesn’t happen over night but can take weeks to establish.
Lastly, be consistent in promoting self responsibility. Therefore, teaching kids to see the benefits of self-discipline and how it makes them feel as an individual gives them a ‘why’ to using their planner.
Choosing the Right Planner for your Student
First, this decision will vary for each child and their style of learning.
Secondly, if you have a child who is regularly over-stimulated, you are going to want to choose a very simple format. Perhaps, even a notebook with a minimal daily list of tasks they can check off.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to do a little trial and error. Give it some time and see what printable weekly homework planner works best for your student.
